The Mindful Bowl is one product with two surfaces — a slow-feeder side that turns a 30-second meal into a ten-minute one, and a lick-mat surface that calms anxious dogs in moments that used to mean stress. Bath time. Nail trims. Fireworks. Vet visits.

The problem

Most dogs eat too fast because food, for thousands of years, was scarce. Now it isn't. But the instinct remains — and with it the risk of bloat (GDV), a twisting of the stomach that's fatal in under an hour for large breeds. Slow eating isn't a preference. It's a precaution.

Separately, the act of licking has been shown to reduce a dog's cortisol levels — the stress hormone. It's why dogs lick their paws when anxious. It's why a dog given a lick mat during a thunderstorm doesn't react the way they used to. The Mindful Bowl combines both functions in a single, food-grade silicone surface.

Why this works

The slow-feeder side has six raised ridges that force the dog to work food out with their tongue and snout, not their teeth. This adds 8–12 minutes to every meal. The lick-mat side is textured with hundreds of small grooves designed to hold peanut butter, yogurt, pumpkin or our calming recipes.

The material is food-grade silicone, certified to EU 10/2011 standards — the same safety regulation that governs human food contact. The base has four powerful suction cups that grip tile, hardwood, glass and stainless steel. It's dishwasher-safe, freezer-safe, and microwave-safe up to 230°C. Available in Cream, Sage and Stone.

Will my dog actually lick it?

Spread a teaspoon of peanut butter (xylitol-free), plain yogurt, pumpkin or any of the 30 recipes in our free Calming Kitchen eBook. The first session is usually the only sell needed.

Will the suction hold on my floor?

Yes on tile, sealed hardwood, glass, marble and stainless steel. Not reliable on textured stone, raw wood, or carpet. Press firmly to activate suction.

Can I freeze it?

Yes. Freezing extends the licking time from 8 minutes to 25+ minutes. We recommend the freeze method for fireworks, vet visits, or when leaving the house.

Is it safe in the dishwasher?

Yes — top rack. Or hand-wash with warm soapy water. Air-dries in 15 minutes.

What if my dog is a strong chewer?

The Mindful Bowl is for slow eating and licking, not chewing. Supervise on first use. If your dog tries to chew the bowl, redirect with a chew toy and use The Mindful Bowl at mealtimes only.
